The Spirit of Tech Club
Inspired by the desire to form an All-University marching band in 1974, The Marching Virginians have grown up
in front of the eyes of all Hokies. From a 100-member ensemble without an identity in 1974, The Marching Virginians
have evolved into a cornerstone of the University community with a membership of 330 strong.
The Spirit of Tech Club is dedicated to the support of The Marching Virginians and the over 330 volunteer student-musicians who bring this extraordinary group to life each year. Consisting of friends, alumni, and advocates of Virginia Tech, its members recognize the value of The Marching Virginians to the University mission and are essential to the band's success.
Our fundraising goals for The Marching Virginians are straightforward and designed to address the key areas of need in the program. This will be done with gifts being used for:
- Instrument replacement
- Improvements to rehearsal and storage facilities
- Support for Graduate Teaching Assistants
- Scholarship support for undergraduate band members
- Any other short or long term needs
